Just Unveiled! The New Kia Sorento Crossover Will Be Longer, Lower and Wider

Another important Paris Motor Show debut was recently announced by Kia. It's the sleek new 2016 Kia Sorento
and we're confident it will be an all-out hit with American crossover buyers who appreciate space, good-looks and unparalleled value.

At first glance, you might say the brand's hallmark design features and a more mature appearance, yet the new model is instantly recognizable as a Sorento. The new look is an evolution of the current vehicle, incorporating fresh visual elements inspired by the Kia Cross GT concept from the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, carrying over the long bonnet and the distinctive treatment of the wide D-pillars from the previous generation.

The new 2016 Sorento will stretch out 3.7-inches longer overall, on a 3-inch longer wheelbase, but sits half an inch lower, promising more interior space and of course updated equipment and features. The Eco Dynamics badge on the tailgate suggests the availability of green tech like stop/start ignition and such. Kia will reveal the new Sorento in Korea later this month ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The exterior of the 2016 Kia Sorento may be a tad conservative, but Kia fans will note that the most important changes will occur inside, where the longer wheelbase will allow for a roomier cabin with increased legroom in the rear compartment. An updated infotainment system and redesigned climate controls were also spotted by our spy photographers, but expect more upgrades throughout the interior. We figure Kia is also enhancing the Sorento’s engine lineup, consisting of a 2.4-liter GDI and  3.3-liter V-6 in the United States, and word has it a plug-in hybrid is in the works as well. Expect the latter to pair a 2.3-liter gasoline unit and an electric motor powered by a lithium-polymer battery.

Of particular interest to Georgians, is that the Kia Sorento is produced with pride in West Point, Georgia. Vehicles began rolling off the assembly line in 2010 and the overall quality has been excellent. At acardealer.com, we're excited about the enhancements of the upcoming Sorento and hope to give the vehicle a test-drive when it hits local showrooms—most likely late this year, or early in 2015.
