Like Luxurious, Crossover Compacts? Tune in to Infiniti's New Premium Compact: the Q30

Infiniti recently confirmed plans to build the exciting new Q30 premium crossover—and hatchback—both petite, appealing, luxury compacts. It's based on the Infiniti Q30 concept originally introduced last year in Frankfurt.
The idea of both super-sporty vehicles that have our attention at

What we believe is that Infiniti has created a new class of premium compact vehicle. As Infiniti says, the Q30 will be, "a perfect balance of coupe, hatchback and crossover designs." "The concept incorporates the superior aspects of each for a new generation of luxury consumer searching for a tailored alternative to traditional premium vehicles."

As indicated, this audacious move incorporates not only the Q30 hatchback but also a QX30 crossover, both to be built at Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK in Sunderland, one of Europe's largest auto assembly plants and current home to the Qashqai and Juke crossovers.

Given that Infiniti recently launched the Juke-based ESQ premium compact crossover for the Chinese market, of
course there's nothing to stop it from launching individual models for the North American and European markets as well, but we'd expect both the Q30 and QX30 to arrive in US showrooms at some point, sooner or later.

Interestingly, the Q30 will be based on a Mercedes-Benz platform, the fruitful result of Nissan and Daimler's collaboration.

The power, like the platform, will come from Mercedes-Benz. In other markets, the engine portfolio will range from a 1.6-liter gasoline unit to a 2.1-liter turbo-diesel. In the U.S., though, our sole engine most likely will be the turbo 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder shared with the CLA250. In the CLA, the engine makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet. An IPL-badged high-performance version of the Q30 is possible down the road, but it’s unlikely to make use of AMG’s screaming 355-hp M133 turbo. It’s more plausible that Infiniti will offer its own, less radically
tuned derivative of the Benz powerplant.

But the styling itself—bold and confident—makes dynamic sense in the competitive market segment in which the QX30 versions will be slotted. Whatever forms eventually make it to America, we look forward to witnessing the launch of the groundbreaking QX30.

Stay tuned for news as actual production approaches!

Still undetermined, but now guaranteed, the Q30 offshoots may take some time to arrive at Infiniti showrooms.

In the meantime, you might want to think about an available Infiniti product that is stunning in its own right. Mercedes-Benz CLA250's New Sports Package Plus—It's Sporty, Hot and Red All Over

At, we can't think of a hotter sedan in its class than the Mercedes-Benz CLA250. It's gorgeous. Well,
all that gourgeousness just got better.

That's because the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 will get even sportier with the newly-announced Sport Package Plus. An upgrade over the car's existing Sport Package, this new option primarily consists of visual changes that add to the CLA's already stylish looks.

Mechanical upgrades include re-tuned front suspension and a new exhaust system, on top of the cross-drilled brake rotors from the regular Sport Package. While they should make the CLA250 more enjoyable to drive, these upgrades may not improve performance dramatically. But, if good-looks count—and they do—the Mercedes-Benz CLA250 will more than satisfy its new owners.

Among the highlights are model-specific 18-inch AMG alloy wheels and red accenting for the front and rear fascias from the existing Sport Package. Inside, the CLA250 Sport Package Plus features a similarly focused upgrading. Artico/Dynamic - M-B's equivalent of Alcantara - material with red top stitching covers the sport seats which are set off by a black headliner, red seat belts and custom floor mats. The sport steering wheel also gains stainless-steel shift paddles.

That's partially because Mercedes left the car's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine alone. It still produces 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque—enough to get the CLA250 from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds, and on to a top speed of 149 mph. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which drives the front wheels or all four with the optional 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

Mercedes hasn't announced pricing for the Sport Package Plus, but the regular Sport Package is a $2,200 option. The 2014 CLA250 itself has a base price of $30,825 (including destination) with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive adds an additional $2,000.

It may take a few weeks for Mercedes-Benz dealers to acquire a robust inventory of the top-of-the-line CLA250,  but we guarantee you it will be worth the wait!

Perhaps you're in love with the new 2014 CLA 250 and simply can't wait for the just-announced sport package. In that case, we suggest you get in touch with Atlanta's premier Mercedes-Benz dealer, Atlanta Classic Cars for a revealing test-drive. If You Like Hot Hatches, You'll Love the Upgraded Ford Focus ST

Just the week before last, one of our favorite compact hatchbacks, the Ford Focus ST,
made its presence known to the world at the famous hill climb in Goodwood, UK. Brits know Ford almost as well as Americans (believe it or not) because of Ford's long-standing focus (pun intended) on the British market.

While many changes are cosmetic, the 2015 Ford Focus ST does get some mechanical updates. What's vital—the guts so to speak of—a 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 boasting 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque ratings and six-speed manual transmission are unchanged. However, Ford Team RS revised the 2015 Ford Focus ST’s suspension and steering. Suspension updates include new front springs and sportier tuning for the front and rear shocks. The revised suspension is said to deliver greater responsiveness, agility, and precision. And improved steering feel comes by way of a revised electric power steering system.

What the above means is this hot hatch will be a balls-to-the-wall, exhilarating driving experience from day one!

Refinements for the upgraded 2015 Focus ST include:
- Redesigned, sportier front and rear fascias

- HID headlamps standard with ST2 and ST3 trim levels with Recaro seats
- Standard LED signature lighting
- 18-inch Rado Gray alloy wheels standard
- Available new 18-inch alloy wheel design with red painted brake calipers
- New exterior color, Magnetic Metallic, replaces Ingot Silver
- Two over-the-top stripe choices now available – Satin Black and High Gloss Red, stripes come with matching mirror skull caps
- Redesigned instrument panel center stack with improved climate controls and new finishes
- New center console with more storage space including a new media bin with USB smart charging port, which charges two times faster than previous USB port
- Updated front door storage with cupholders
- New flat-bottom steering wheel to provide extra leg clearance for the driver
- Available heated steering wheel
- Available eight-way power driver's seat
- Revised steering for improved feel
- Rear view camera standard

Overall, in terms of sheer good-looks, the new Focus ST features sportier and more aggressive styling than the previous generation, with a lower, wider stance; new dynamically
sculpted hood; slimmer headlamps and rectangular fog lamps.

The sports body kit also includes body‑colored side skirts and diffuser elements either side of the exhaust, and a rear roof spoiler optimized for aerodynamic performance. All new Focus ST models feature twin-hexagonal center tailpipes.

Put simply, we at, love the Ford Focus in all its guises—but we believe the hatchback is definitely the one to own.

Whichever Ford Focus model makes your heart race—even if it's the base Focus S Sedan, plan to visit Hennessy Ford on Peachtree Industrial in Chamblee. Hennessy is worth a drive from anywhere in metro Atlanta.

Chart Your Course to 8-Passenger SUV Excellence with the New Honda Pilot Special Edition

At, we've always believed the Pilot is an outstanding, versatile and spacious family-hauler with Honda quality built in. Now you can own all that goodness wrapped in an appealing Special Edition trim level for 2015.

The new Special Edition adds extra value to an already value-packed SUV that comfortably seats eight people.

According to Honda, the new 2015 Pilot Special Edition, or SE, starts at $33,950 with shipping. That places it in the middle of the crossover's lineup, between the mid-level EX and leather-trimmed EX-L models. But it offers an especially good value thanks to several new standard features designed to entice family-oriented car shoppers.

The Pilot SE's most important new features are a standard power sunroof, standard Sirius XM satellite radio, and a standard DVD rear entertainment system—items added with both parents and children in mind. In addition to those extras, the Pilot SE also boasts unique gray alloy wheels and a host of SE badges to help earn its asking price.

Aside from the SE, the Honda Pilot is largely unchanged for 2015. The lineup still includes four other trim levels, namely LX, EX, EX-L and Touring, which start between $30,700 and $40,850 with shipping. That places the new SE on the low end of the Pilot's pricing lineup, which will make it especially appealing for some shoppers.

Whichever Pilot model you choose, you can rely on Honda's ever-excellent powerplant taking your family wherever it needs to go in efficient style.

All 2015 Pilots are powered by a refined and fuel-efficient 250-horsepower4 3.5-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM™). The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control to help maintain the most appropriate gear when climbing or descending steep grades.

So what's next for the Pilot? Honda typically releases a Special Edition model about a year before a full redesign, which means the Pilot is likely slated for a major update in the coming months. We can be especially certain of that because its Acura mechanical twin, the MDX, earned its own full redesign for the 2014 model year, so we know the next Pilot can't be too far behind. Though next year's Pilot most likely won't match the summer deals available now.

The new Honda Pilot Special Edition is just now rolling into showrooms. Be on the lookout for it. But if you're heart is set on driving home savings now on a Pilot, you'll find a sensational inventory at our favorite Georgia Honda dealer, Lou Sobh Honda in Cumming, GA. Right now, you'll love the low, low summer prices on quality new and used cars at the all-new Lou Sobh Honda in Cumming.
