New 2015 Mercedes-Benz 4x4 Sprinter Is Sure to Gain Traction in the Van Market

It isn't scheduled to hit showrooms until the beginning of next year, but the wildly popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will boast four-wheel drive and a torque-happy Bluetec V6 turbo

The flashy European model is shown here.

We at acardealer.com know the spacious, efficient Sprinter is all-purpose and infinitely capable (does American Pickers ring a bell?), but the 2015 Sprinter 4x4 will be offered in both 144- and 170-inch wheelbases, with low and high roof options, and will come in Passenger, Crew and Cargo van specifications. The pricing for all these variations should be announced closer to the van's debut early next year.

As mentioned, the US-spec 4x4 will only be available with the larger, 3.0-liter Bluetec V6, good for 188 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. And, while the Sprinter 4x4 will
not feature full-time four-wheel drive, the system can be activated at the push of a button.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the current 2014 Sprinter, offers this impressive list of active safety features:
 - anti-lock brake system (ABS),
- acceleration slip regulation
- electronic brake force distribution (EBD),
- hydraulic Brake Assist (BAS),
- Load Adaptive Control (LAC) load-dependent control system,
- Roll Over Mitigation roll-over protection and Roll Movement Intervention (ROM/RMI),
- Enhanced Understeering Control system (EUC),
- automatic brake disc drying system (Brake Disc Wiping) when driving in the rain
- and anticipatory preparation of the brake pads in critical driving situations (Electronic Brake Prefill)

One way or the other, the soon-to-be groundbreaking 4x4 Sprinter will mean legendary innovator Mercedes-Benz will offer the only four-wheel-drive work van in America.

New 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Boasts a Power Boost Plus Revolutionary Cabin

The revamped Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan is scheduled to debut this summer and we think it will rival its main competition, the much-loved BMW 3-Series.

In America, according to acardealer.com sources, instead of the C250 we’ll be receiving the more potent C300, which sports a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four (happily replacing the old, underwhelming 1.8-liter turbo) only producing more power, 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque compared to 208 hp and 258 lb-ft from the C250. The C400, meanwhile, comes packing a potent 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 good for 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. These two will eventually be joined by a C-Class diesel and at least one hybrid, possibly two, with one variant being an electric plug-in.

However, the new C-Class faces formidable competition in not only the BMW 3-Series, but also against the much-less costly Audi 3 sedan.

Yet we applaud the appealing, bold styling of the upcoming C-Class—it's elegant, sophisticated and totally modern. And when you peer into the cockpit, you'll know that the new Mercedes C-Class interior is the true star of the "entry" level model.

The styling of the new C-Class brings it more in line with the latest revision of the S-Class
flagship from stem to stern. Up front, the grille is more upright, wearing a slightly re-shaped version of the two-bar grille seen in the previous C-Class, but the similarities end there. The headlights flanking the grille are more intricately styled, with a brow-like light bar running over the dual-inset lamps, crested by a line of LEDs.

As we said, in the cabin, Mercedes has moved design language found in its other new vehicles into the 2015 C-Class, with long lines wrapping around the cabin's belt line, layered into tiers. Front and center is a free-standing display at the top of the center stack, three circular vents below, and two thin strips of buttons to control key functions. The latest iteration of the COMAND controller for the vehicle's
infotainment system sits atop the center tunnel, with a mouse-like touchpad puck hovering over a control wheel. In front of the driver, the steering wheel is flat-bottomed and offers a familiar set of controls on either of the horizontal spokes. The instrument panel offers a speedometer and a tachometer in separate analog gauge housings, with a full-color LCD screen between.

Besides being beautiful, the 2015 C-Class interior is as hush-hush quiet as it is luxurious. Put simply, it's a revelation in its class. We can't wait for it to arrive in showrooms later this year.

If you're looking forward to driving the new 2015 C-Class as much as we are, we urge you to contact Atlanta's premier Mercedes-Benz dealer, Atlanta Classic Cars for a revealing test-drive. Then order your new 2015 C-Class from one of the premier dealerships in America.

2015 Ford F-Series Super-Duty Pickup Once Again Moves to the Head of the Class

The 2015 Ford F-150, F-Series Super Duty and Expedition King Ranch models debuted recently at the 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The high-end models arrive at dealerships later this year, and pricing will also be released at a later date.

The 2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty King Ranch competes with the fully loaded 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD and Ram HD.  We at acardealer.com note that Ford has just announced a significant increase in the horsepower and torque levels of its 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 engine for 2015. As you'd expect, the Blue Oval is claiming class-leading figures of 440 hp (up from 400) and 860 pound-feet (up from 800), and that's enough to enable Ford's F-450 Super Duty model to tow as much as 31,200 pounds, which, again, the automaker claims is class-leading.

If you are keeping tabs, Chevy rates its 2015 Silverado HD at a maximum of 23,200 pounds.

Ford's welcomed new pulling power comes courtesy of a larger turbocharger for its in-house Power Stroke engine, new fuel injector tips and, we'd assume, retuned computer controls. Besides the engine enhancements, compared to the 2014 F-350. the new F-350 gets a wider front track for 2015 and new front springs, while the F-450 gains commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tires, new rear U-joints, leaf springs, stabilizer bars and shocks. The steering and brake systems have also been upgraded.

From Ford's press release, here are more relevant details:
• Second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel boosts horsepower to a class-leading 440 horsepower; torque to class-leading 860 lb.-ft. for all models
• F-450 chassis upgrades raise maximum gooseneck trailer towing capacity to class-leading 31,200 pounds, fifth wheel towing capacity to class-leading 26,500 pounds, and gross combined weight rating to a class-leading 40,000 pounds
• F-350 available with maximum towing package that increases fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailer

towing capacity to 26,500 pounds, and raises the gross combined weight rating to 35,000 pounds

In the meantime, if your growing business demands a Ford Super-Duty now, consider these attractive options:

Set your sights on a pleasant drive to the showrooms at Akins Ford in Winder, Georgia. Because of the selection, savings and excellent service, a drive to Akins from anywhere in metro Atlanta is a really smart choice.

For Better or Worse, It's the End of the Road for Honda's Hybrid Insight

The Honda Insight hybrid will no longer be made after this month, according to automotive
news sources near and far. Reports from insiders point to this unfortunate news: “Honda informed dealers in November that the current generation of the Insight will be discontinued this month and asked them to stop taking orders.”

Sales of the Insight have been nowhere near the sales of its main rival, the Toyota Prius. In January, Toyota sold 12,205 Prius hybrids in the U.S. (also includes Prius c, Prius v and Prius Plug-in), while Honda sold only 317 Insight models. When looking at total 2013 U.S. sales, Honda sold 4,802 Insights compared to 234,228 total Prius models.

Lots of folks are sad to see the Insight go. USA Today writes, “Personally, we've always liked the Insight. … Easy to drive, easy on the eyes and by 2012, 42 miles per gallon combined in city and highway driving. Good, but about eight miles per gallon less than a Prius.”

In the competitive Hybrid market, eight miles per gallon, is alas, a very big deal.

The truth is, the current generation Insight has been sold since the 2010 model year, but the Insight debuted back in 1999 as the first hybrid car available to U.S. buyers. The current Honda Insight ranks near the bottom of affordable small car rankings and hybrid car rankings. The Insight just never seemed to catch on, though we at acardealer.com believe its looks and build-quality are at least on a par with the Prius.

The fact is the second-generation Honda Insight is the most affordable mass-produced hybrid vehicle on the market with a MSRP starting at just $18,725. That's a compelling reason why the Honda Insight was named one of the "Best Hybrids for the Money" by Cars.com

But as we all know, sales determine every automotive model's fate, and sales (compared to the almighty Prius) were ultimately the Insight's downfall—though its low entry price tag had a great amount of appeal.

While we're on the subject, let us give you an excellent insider's tip on obtaining the maximum discount on your next Honda.

Right now, during the huge March Sale at the all-new Lou Sobh Honda in Cumming, Georgia, you can catch incredible deals on every Honda model—including Insights, Accords, Civics, CR-Vs and much more. Lou Sobh's Monthly Web Specials also offer extra-special savings on all Honda models.
