Honda Odyssey. Is There a Better Van on the Planet? We Doubt It

You may be shocked to know that the new 2014 Honda Odyssey sports a built-in vacuum (the HondaVAC) on its top-of-the-line Touring Elite version. But that's just icing on the cake. Even the bottom-tier Honda LX Odyssey sweeps the competition.

Fact is, the modestly-priced LX model boasts amazing standard features including a 248-HP 24-Valve engine, 6-speed auto tranny, stability-assist traction control, umpteen airbags, high-res VGA display, rearview camera, power front seats, LED tailights, Bluetooth, and much, much more.

When we say modestly priced, we mean the LX starts at under 30K. But honestly, you do get a lot for your money, not to mention most likely the safest minivan on the market. Of course, if you want that super-duper, innovative van vac, you're going to have to pony up closer to 45K. Ouch.

But let's focus on the LX level. Check out this list of standard features:

All Honda Odysseys are getting minor exterior enhancements for the 2014 model year, including a re-sculpted aluminum hood, new aluminum fenders, a new grille, and a reworked lower fascia with chrome-ringed fog lights. The projection-beam headlight housings get a darker finish, and the mirrors get a two-tone treatment. New LED taillamps and a fresh badge look round out the updates.

Many structural improvements have also been made, which Honda says will help the Odyssey achieve top marks in safety tests, although no one’s yet run the 2014 into anything to gather official ratings. The Odyssey Touring Elite also will get standard nanny systems like forward collision warning and lane-departure warning, and the vacuum is standard here, too.

Stay tuned in to Honda news, as the stylish new 2014 Odyssey is scheduled to debut right about the time this blog post hits the Internet. At acardealer.com, we urge you to be on the lookout for fantastic offers at South Georgia's-North Florida's number one Honda dealer, Honda of the Avenues.

Get Your Toyota Tundra in Five Grades Starting under 26K. We Rate All B+ or Better.

The 2014 Toyota Tundra. It's a big, brawny pickup truck and light years' better than its meek predecessors of the nineties.

The SR version starts at $25,920 with a 4.0 liter V6 and you can move up there into the pickup stratosphere with a 4.6 liter or 5.7 liter V8 along with all the high-end trim items you can afford. At acardealer.com, we think the Tundra is a worthy competitor in its class and the price points are comparable as well. And guess what? It's a really good-looking truck.

Seven years after its introduction, at the 2013 Chicago Auto show earlier this year, Toyota introduced a refreshed Tundra set for sale as a 2014 model. "Tundra's new exterior design and new interior were inspired by customer feedback requesting a more chiseled exterior and refined interior, with improved driver ergonomics and easy-to-use technology, giving customers more of what they want," said the automaker. The reception for the mostly cosmetic changes was understandably lukewarm – especially amidst major redesigns by the fiercely competitive Detroit Three.

The fact is, the Ford F-150 has dominated for ages, but Chevrolet, Ram and GMC have been closing the gap with freshly redesigned trucks that are rocking the industry. 2014's half-ton trucks are better than they've ever been, and it's because of dead serious competition from all the manufacturers.

Most noticeable in the exterior of the 2014 Tundra is the front hood, raised 1.6 inches in height, and the new aggressive front grille (with a "mock-air inlet") that reaches down to the top of the bumper. The sleekly sculpted front bumper is now a three-piece modular design, allowing consumers easier repair if a section is damaged (the bumper improvement is carried over to the rear as well). Other changes include single-bulb headlamps, new quarter panels with integrated fender flares and a new soft-drop tailgate with "TUNDRA" embossed in the sheet metal. There are also four new wheel designs ranging in diameter from 18 to 20 inches.

The interior has also been redesigned and modernized to have a "true truck look," says the automaker. Continuing that objective, the dash and doors have been restyled with more soft-touch surfaces and the instrument panel upgraded and moved over slightly to improve ergonomics. There is a new, larger center console and with additional power outlets (AUX, USB and 12-volt) above the console tray, and the infotainment system has been updated with Toyota's latest Entune system. Four-door CrewMax models have also been fitted with a "tip-up" rear seat cushion to improve load capacity and utility.

Some of the best features of the new Tundra include:
Superior interior space, particularly the rear seat where’s plenty of room for three adults.
Big truck, small turning radius. Big truck, drives smaller (it’s a compliment). Smooth, car-like ride.

Revolutionary, Redesigned Jeep Cherokee to Debut in September with 9-Speed Auto Tranny

It's sleek and refined and gets up to 31 MPG Highway fitted with an impressive 9-speed automatic transmission. More than anything, the new Jeep Cherokee looks absolutely
modern from its streamlined, sculpted nose to its optional CommandView® dual-pane sunroof. At acardealer.com, we see the latest generation Cherokee with exterior lines that are truly aerodynamic.

Best of all, the new 2014 Cherokee starts at under 23K and it comes well-equipped at every level, from Sport to Latitude to Limited to Trailhawk®.

Frankly, we give credit to the Chrysler-Fiat brass for developing the first-ever nine-speed automatic transmission for passenger vehicles with a front-wheel-drive layout. The tranny was developed by ZF and will be assembled at Chrysler's plant in Kokomo, IN. Last year, ZF said that nine speeds is the "natural limit" for transmissions, given the law of diminishing returns.

Chrysler says the new Cherokee gets "up to 31 mpg," which is certainly better than the 19 miles per gallon combined that the six-speed, two-wheel-drive 2013 Cherokee gets, per the EPA.

Earlier this year, Chrysler took the wraps off the 2014 Cherokee at the New York Auto Show,
complete with a simulation of a "trip" through Moab in the Trailhawk version. The model will have both front- and all-wheel-driver versions ranging from 184 to 271 horsepower and is based on a platform developed by Chrysler's sister company Alfa Romeo.

The first copies of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee began rolling down the assembly line at Chrysler’s Toledo assembly facility recently with a target of 150 units being built a day. That pace is good enough for around 15 percent less than the 2014 Jeep Cherokee’s target of 275,000 units sold annually. Production is now in full swing after a one-month delay.

Yes, the new Cherokee exterior is inviting and futuristic, but the interior is also up-to-date and appealing. In the last few years Jeep has switched from utilitarian hard plastic dashboards to creating inviting soft-touch shapes. All but the most basic Cherokee models
feature 5.0- or 8.4-inch touch-screens, depending on the trim level, that operate climate, communications and infotainment systems. The split-folding and fore-/aft-sliding second-row seat is standard, while an available fold-flat front passenger seat has storage beneath the flip-up bottom cushion.

Sign up now for updates on precisely when the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee will hit Chrysler showrooms. When you're ready to test drive this revolutionary model, we recommend the professionals at Akins Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge-Ram in Winder, GA. Drive a short while and get the best price possible on all types of Chrysler products.

If you're ready to buy now, remember Akins' Monthly Web Specials will save you thousands on your favorite Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge-Ram models. Check them out and get the kind of deal dreams are made of!

Mercedes-Benz' 2014 S-Class Kicks Ass

Set your sights on September Merc fans, because the one-of-a-kind, high-tech, S-Class is claimed to be among the most sophisticated road cars ever placed into series production.
Developed under the internal code name W222, the distinctively styled sixth-generation, twin-turboed, top-of-the-line S-Class debuts very soon.

Included in a long list of options that will be available for the new Mercedes when it reaches the U.S. is an advanced camera-assisted chassis. The new feature is able to scan the road surface and alter the suspension settings to suit the conditions for optimum ride comfort.

Take a look. The 2014's exquisite exterior is breathtaking. Where the previous generation looked a bit bloated thanks to balloon fenders and over-sculpted detailing, the W222 comes off as both more stately and athletic. While not the most striking shape in the luxury sedan sphere, it looks balanced and planted in a way its predecessor never imagined. The viewer's eye is drawn from the imposing slatted grille and complex LED headlamps around and along the bodysides, following a CLA-style tapering swage line to a tidy (if generic) rear end. The design isn't just harmonious to the eyes; the S550 has a drag coefficient of 0.24, all but unmatched anywhere in the vehicle kingdom.

But plant yourself in the driver's chair and you'll quickly understand what all the hype really means. The retuned engine revs to 455 horsepower at 5,250 rpm (up from 429) and 516 pound-feet of torque from 1,800 rpm. That's sufficient to give this 4,300-pound sedan enough hustle to reach 60 from a standstill in 4.8 seconds, powering on to a limited top speed of 130 miles per hour. What those numbers don't convey is the seamless manner in which power arrives and is put down. The seven-speed automatic is a well-mannered unit, and downshifts are but a finger-tap away. The engine sounds a bit burlier than before in its higher registers, but it's mostly bystanders who will notice, as the interior is truly serene.

The privilege of owning all of this fantastic technology will cost you just under $100,000. We at acardealer.com believe it's worth it, bumper to bumper, hood to trunk.

If you're looking forward to driving the new 2014 S-Class as much as we are, we urge you to call Atlanta's premier Mercedes-Benz dealer, Atlanta Classic Cars for an exhilarating test-drive. Then order your new 2014 S-Class from one of the premier dealerships in America.
